Background

You might remember Batgirl (aka Barbara Gordan) from her introduction in Detective Comics back in the 1960’s.  However, I remember watching repeats of the old Batman TV series, starring Adam West.  The show featured Yvonne Craig as Commissioner Gordon’s librarian daughter and ran for two years on ABC.  In the comics, there were several others who played the role of Batgirl, however, Gordon is most commonly known as Batgirl.

The DC Stars collections from Tonner Doll Company has immortalized Batgirl as a 16” tall Tonner Character Figure (TCF).  The figure is based on the comic version, since the television Batgirl wore a purple and yellow outfit.

Packaging

The box that Batgirl is packaged in is similar to the rest of the DC Stars line.  The figure is secured by a number of ribbons, which allows for easy removal and no scratching of the product.

The Figure

The Batgirl Tonner Character Figure is 16” tall and has 13
points of articulation
.  The DC Comics authorized figure is limited to a run of 2,500 pieces.  Her rooted red hair comes styled by a
doll-sized curling iron.  Each figure is constructed of vinyl and hard
plastic and includes a high quality display stand.

The TCF comes packaged with a number of accessories.  There are yellow
boots that zipper up the back, a removable hood and cape that hooks at
the rear of the neck and rubber gloves that slip on the figure’s hands.

Our Opinion

The Tonner Character Figures line is at the top of its class.  The
attention to detail is apparent in the sculpting and clothes.  Even
though Batgirl doesn’t need to be sculpted like a specific actress,
they have done a great job reflecting the comic book version of the
character.

Where the rubber gloves were somewhat difficult to fit onto Aquaman,
Batgirl’s gloves slide on easily.  You can pose the figure with or
without the mask.  However, since the mask and cape are one piece,
you’ll have to make due without the cape if you choose to go that route.

You can pick one up at the following:

The Urban Stash: $129.95
Tonner Direct: $129.99

Batgirl TCF Grades:

Quality: 9/10

Durability: 9/10

Fun Factor: 9/10
Value: 8/10
Overall: 9.3/10
