REVIEW: Milk and Cheese
Background
FreeBento.com sent us two of the baddest dairy products around. The Milk and Cheese rotocast vinyl figures are based on the comic book series of the same name. Artist Evan Dorkin teamed up with Monkey Fun Toys to bring the carton of milk and wedge of cheese to fans and collectors of all ages.
Designed by Evan Dorkin and Sarah Dyer, and sculpted by Mitch Martinez, Milk and Cheese are ready, willing and more than able to kick the living crap out of your pathetic junky little action figures and highfalutin' designer "urban vinyls".
Packaging
The Milk and Cheese figures are packaged in an oversized cardboard box. The box is full of drawings of the enclosed characters. But the best aspect of the packaging is the full-length comic strip that is printed on the rear of the box.
The Figures
Both Milk and Cheese are made of rotocast vinyl and are approximately 6” in height. They have four points of articulation (arms and legs). Each figure has a fist sculpted to hold a specific weapon. Since the weapons differ in size, they cannot really be interchanged. Milk holds a broken gin bottle, while Cheese is equipped with his “Hammer Time” hammer. There is the trusty Stick-With-A-Nail-In-It…but it’s an in-between size that doesn’t securely fit in either character’s hand.
Our Opinion
Well, we’ve been waiting for over two years for Monkey Fun Toys to release the Milk and Cheese set. And if you’ve been waiting as well, you won’t be disappointed. This is by far and away the best product that the company has put out. However, it would have been to their advantage to include the company’s name and logo somewhere on the figures (rather than a Made in China sticker).
The paint and sculpting work on these figures is very well done. There are some issues around the bottom of the figure with excess glue. But since it’s in a hidden area, you might not even notice it.
