Mark Nagata art and toys

Mark Nagata - of Max Toy Co. fame - has announced the publication of his new book, Mark Nagata art and toys. Published via Blurb.com, this full color book is 7" by 7" and spans 108 pages. It's printed on premium paper and is available in both soft cover ($40) and hard cover ($60) editions. The soft cover version is available in the Max Toy Co web store, but you can also order it directly from Blurb.

Mark describes it as "a visual journey through my childhood, toy collecting and artwork." And if you'll be at San Diego Comic Con 2009, he will have a few copies for purchase during his signing on Thursday, July 23rd, at the StrangeCo Booth (#4629) from 2PM until 4PM

Giant Eyezon Plush

Max Toy Co is currently taking pre-orders for their Giant Eyezon plush created by the amazing artist Sebastian Curadeau. Each plush will be about 21" tall and 12" wide.The front side will be leather with airbrushed and stitched details. The backside will be a colored glitter vinyl material.

These will be made to order, so if are interested in purchasing one...pre-order now. Max Toy Co is asking for a 50% deposit (refunded if they can't deliver the item). Each plush runs $250 plus shipping (US=$12). Please allow 8-10 weeks, as these are hand made the time my vary. Email info@maxtoyco.com to order.

Kaiju TriPus Glow In Dark Vinyl

Max Toy Company has introduced their Kaiju TriPus Glow In Dark version soft vinyl figure. It's the second release in the Kaiju TriPus series and uses glow-in-the-dark paint. The 10.75" tall rotocast vinyl comes bagged with header and backing card art by Mark Nagata. It will retail for $70 each.

Captain Maxx vs. Drazoran

If you're a Max Toy Club member, you probably received an email for Captain Maxx's newest Kaiju Foe - Drazoran. Well...they sold out almost instantly. But don't fret...there should be another version of this amazing kaiju character out soon.

For those interested, this 10.5" tall piece was sculpted by Yajima-san of Dream Rocket - Japan. The Godzilla Blue vinyl figure with silver paint is hand painted by master painter Goto-san. Each figure comes with a special card with a short biography of Goto-san.

REVIEW: Kaiju TriPus

Background

From the ocean’s depths, [Kaiju TriPus] emerges to do battle with Captain Maxx. What will it take to defeat this tentacled sea mutant? No doubt a full out battle royale between Kaiju TriPus, Alien Xam and Kaiju Eyezon versus our ultimate hero!

TriPus is the newest kaiju creation from Max Toy Co. and artist/designer Mark Nagata. This character is a part of the Captain Maxx universe, which now consists of four different vinyl figures.

Packaging

The Kaiju TriPus comes double bagged with a header card and backing card. The header card has a drawing of the character from the chest up, while the backing card has a great scene of TriPus attacking a ship at sea.  On the rear of the card is a listing (with photos) of all of the Max Toy Co. produced figures.

Max Toy + Dead Presidents Custom Eyezon

Mark Nagata (of Max Toy Co.) and Matt Walker (of Dead Presidents Designs) have teamed up to produced a limited number of 10 custom Eyezon vinyls. Mark painted them and had Matt paint, add brushwork and a clear coat with fine glitter.

These can be bought via either of the above sites for $300 each. The figures come bagged with a special Kaiju Dollar header card. Each one is signed by both artists and comes with a framed giclee of George Washington vs Eyezon.

Captain Maxx Grey Suit

Mark Nagata and Max Toy Co. has released the Ultraman-inspired grey suit version of his Captain Maxx rotocast vinyl figure.  This limited edition figure will run you $45 (and will go great next to the original red version).

Eyezon MEETS Night Gamer

Here is a wonderful meeting of the minds (and art styles)...Mark Nagata of Max Toy Co and Bob Conge of Plaseebo will release a joint custom set - Eyezon MEETS Night Gamer - today.  It's a limited edition of 10 sets.  Mark hand painted 10 Plaseebo Night Gamers and Bob hand painted 10 Max Toy Co Eyezons. 

The Nagata custom Night Gamer is 7" tall in white glow in the dark vinyl with fumed red glass inset eyes and is signed and numbered by Mr. Nagata.

The Conge custom Eyezon is 10" tall in clear vinyl with numerous inset plastic eyes and is signed and numbered by Bob.

Both the Eyezon and Night Gamer have a motion activated color changing LED unit inside.  These figures will be offered on a first come, first served basis as a set of the 2 figures (1 Eyezon and 1 Night Gamer). The set is priced at $620 shipped. And those purchasing the set of 2 figures will also receive a signed limited edition 16" by 18" color giclee print of Conge's Eyezon drawing.
